Weekly Happenings 3.12-3.16

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend! This is our last week before spring break! We also have a half day on Friday!

Here is what's happenings this week:

Writing: I am beyond amazed with the students' informational books and posters! They truly became experts on their topics! Our next unit will be a poetry unit! They will learn about the different types of poems and the elements of poetry. They will be writing many poems throughout the unit!

Reading: We are wrapping up our book clubs this week! They students have grown so much this unit! They are taking better notes and having stronger conversations. Please continue to make sure your child is reading nightly! It would be beneficial to ask them some questions about their reading. This will help ensure they are reading carefully.

Word Study: This week, we will focus on using homophones correctly in their writing! They will get new spelling words after spring break.

Science: The students will be working on a rocks and minerals Web Quest. They will be using different online videos and websites to learn more about rocks and minerals. They will work in a group to answer questions that go with the video and websites.

Math: This week, the students will learn the different metric measurements. They will also learn how to convert the measurements. They will take a short quiz over the unit on Friday.
