Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend enjoying the incredible weather! I cannot wait for the week we have ahead of us!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: This week we will start the next part of our informational unit. The students will be writing another informational book. This book will be very similar to their Louisiana Purchase books, but will be over a topic of their choice! I cannot wait to see what topics they choose!

Reading: We will wrap up informational text structures this week. We will also start learning about different text features and why authors use certain features. Please encourage your child to read non-fiction at home!

Word Study: The students will take their spelling tests this week on Monday and Tuesday. Their contracts are also due on Tuesday.

Social Studies:  Due to the early release on Wednesday, their Chapter 5 test will be on Thursday. We will spend the Monday and Tuesday reviewing for the test. Please encourage your child to begin studying a couple days before the test, since there is a lot of material to learn. They will fill out their study guides on Monday.

Math: This week we will begin Chapter 10. This chapter covers decimals. We will begin by learning the different place values of decimals. We will also learn how fractions and decimals are related.

Important Updates:
2/11 - Early Release
2/12 - Social Studies Test
2/13-Jump Rope for Heart/Valentine's Day Fun
2/16-No School
