Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here is what's happenings this week:

Writing: We are continuing to work on our informational books. This week we will continue to work on adding text features. We will also work on adding quotes from our research. I have seen some amazing work so far! Their papers will be due next Friday, March 6th.
Here are some of the possible text features to add:

Reading: This week we will continue to learn new text features and why authors choose certain features. Understanding this will help them in their reading and writing! Please encourage your child to read non-fiction books at home.
Here are some features we have discussed so far:

Word Study: The students received their words last week. The Green and Orange group will test on Wednesday. The Purple and Blue group will test on Thursday.

Social Studies: Last week we focused on the causes of the Civil War. This week we will learn about the Civil War and how it affected Missouri. We will also begin discussing the reconstruction after the war. I am so impressed with the great discussions we've had about the causes of the war!

Math: The chapter 10 test will be this Wednesday. Their study guides will be sent home tomorrow. We will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the concepts. Please help your child study for the math test. It is important they are working through problems similar to the study guide. There are many online resources through their text book to help study! If you have any questions about this, let me know!

Important Reminders:

2/25 - Math Test
