Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great long weekend! The students all had some great stories to share about their weekends! Also, thank you to all of those who donated box tops! Our class collected over 1,000!!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: We will continue to work on poetry this week. The students have been working on creating poems that convey a certain mood. They are also working on creating poems using different tones. We will also continue to work on using figurative language to create strong imagery. The students will begin publishing their poetry on the computers this week as well.

Reading: We will continue using close reading to practice a variety of different reading strategies this week. The students will also be working in their book clubs to create a final project.  Some groups are working on skits, posters, or plays to wrap up their books.

Science: This week we began chapter 10 which covers force and motion. We will discuss how an object's mass affects the force needed to move the object. We will also talk about the speed of objects.

Math: We are still plugging away with geometry! The students are doing very well so far! We learned to measure and draw angles. We will also learn about the different types of triangles and quadrilaterals.

Important Reminders:
4/9 - Pig Out Party
4/15-4/16 - MAP Testing
