Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I am so proud of the student's hard work during testing last week! Every single student put forth their best effort both days!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: We began our last writing unit today! The students will be writing a literary essay. They will ultimately develop a thesis about a text and support it with evidence from the text. This week the students will be focusing on developing big ideas about texts. They will look for patterns that they can support throughout the text.

Reading: The students got their new book club books today. They will meet on Thursday to discuss the first section of reading. We will also work on the difference between retelling and summarizing.

Word Study: The students received their new words today. Their contracts will be due next Wednesday. They will also test Wednesday.

Science: We are finishing up the chapter on speed and motion. This week we will review and test on Wednesday. The students already have their study guides. After the test, we will go back to social studies.

Math: We will spend this week reviewing for the math test on Friday. The math test will assess them on Geometry as well as area and perimeter. Their study guides will be going home tomorrow.
