Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I am looking forward to a great week!

Here is what's going on this week:

Writing: We have begun working on a poetry unit. The students are working to effectively use line breaks, stanzas, and figurative language in their poems. I am impressed with their quality of work so far!

Reading: We have moved on to a Test Prep. unit. In this unit, the students will work on the different strategies good test takers use when reading a passage and answering questions. Please make sure your child is doing at least 20 minutes of reading a night.

Word Study: During this time, we will be working on different grammar and punctuation lessons. This week, the students will learn how to use relative nouns. We will review the rules of capitalization.

Social Studies: We've finished the Oregon Trail game! The students learned a ton and had a great time! We are now moving on to studying the Civil War. The students will focus on the causes of the Civil War and the Reconstruction period.

Math: We are learning how to find the area and perimeter of squares and rectangles. They will take a quiz over these concepts on Friday.

Important Reminders:
3/21-3/35 - SPRING BREAK
4/1 - Half Day
