Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope you all had a great Halloween Weekend! The Fall Festival was a success, and the students had a ton of fun! Also, thank you all for coming to conferences. It was great getting to discuss the wonderful things about your child!
This week we are back to another full week of learning!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: This week we are starting opinion essays. We will be learning the structure of essays and begin thinking about our topics. I am excited to see what topics they come up with!
Here is the basic structure of their essays.

Reading: This week we will be wrapping up inferring. We will also start working on summarizing texts. Please encourage your child to give a short summary after their ten minutes of reading.

Word Study: Their word study contracts are due Thursday, October 6. Purple and Green groups will test this Wednesday. Blue and Orange groups will test this Thursday.

Social Studies: Mrs. Jardon will be here this week to teach the students all they need to know about the Louisiana Purchase! She is an expert and has a lot of interesting information to share!

Math: We are starting chapter 5 this week. Chapter 5 covers two-digit by two-digit multiplication. Please continue practicing multiplication facts with your child!
