Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Thank you to those of you who brought in money or food for Adopt-A-Family last week! We set a goal to collect 100 items and we are already at 94 items! We will reach our goal in no time!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: This week we will be working on developing opinion essays. The students will work on generating essay ideas and work on elaborating those ideas using thinking prompts.

Reading: In reading we will continue to focus on forming summaries of both fiction and non-fiction books.  Please continue to ask your children to summarize what they read during their ten minutes of reading.

Word Study: Due to some changes in our schedule last week, the students will be getting new words today. Their tests will be tentatively scheduled for November 24.

Social Studies: This week we are reviewing the Louisiana Purchase. They will test on Thursday. They have their study guides with them, and we will work on filling them out together today.

Math: We will continue working on multiplication. We will learn how to solve multi-step word problems and use tables to help solve problems. The math test will be this Friday, November 14.

Important Reminders:
11/11 - Veteran's Day assembly 9:00
11/12 - early release
11/10-11/14 - Adopt a Family, paper products
11/17-11/21 - Blue Ribbon week! Each day will have a different theme for the students to participate in.
