Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I cannot wait to hear all about the student's long weekend!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: I am so impressed with the planning the students have done for their essays so far! This week we will work on making decisions for which pieces of evidence to include in their essays and how to organize those pieces. We will also will be writing introductions and conclusion paragraphs for our essay.

Reading: We will continue working on using story elements to summarize fiction texts.
Please encourage your child to summarize the part of the text they read for their nightly homework.

Word Study: The students will be working on different sorts with their words. Their next test is tentatively scheduled for December 11th and 12th.

Science: This week we will continue to learn about the three types of rocks and how each of those rocks are formed. We will also study how weathering and erosion affect the Earth.

Math: This week we will continue to work on long division.  We will spend some time reviewing the long division steps. We will also be solving word problems using division. The students will need to interpret the remainder to answer the word problems.

Let me know if you have any questions!
