Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: This week the students will be publishing their informational books. Their writing is due no later than Monday, March 9th. Friday will be the last day to work on them in class.

Reading: We will continue to learn about different text features and why authors use each feature. We will also be starting book clubs this week! Each student will be in a group of students reading the same book. They will meet with their groups two times a week to discuss their books.

Word Study: Word study tests are this week. Orange and Green groups will test Wednesday and Purple and Blue will test Thursday.

Social Studies: We will wrap up Chapter 6 this week. We will review Monday and Tuesday and test on Wednesday. Please encourage your child to begin studying for the test on Monday.

Math: Last week we started a unit on measurement. This chapter will focus on measuring length, capacity, and weight using Customary measurements. They will also need to convert different measurements. In order to do this, it is important they know their facts (especially 3s and 12s). Their test over chapter 11 will be next Friday the 13th.

Important Reminders:
3/4 - Social Studies Test
3/6 - Half Day, End of 3rd Quarter
3/13- Math Test
3/13 - Half Day, Start of Spring Break
