Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend. This week is a short week, since we are off Friday. We still have a lot of learning to fit in, though!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: This week we are working on creating poems using figurative language. We will also work on writing poems from different perspectives. Here is a poster showing the different examples of figurative language we have learned about.

We've also talked about onomatopoeias. Later this week they will learn about idioms and hyperboles.

Reading: This week we are working on their listening skills. I will be reading a passage aloud and they will have to answer various questions based on the passage. We will also continue to use close reading as a way to better understand the text.

Science: This week we will wrap up the Electricity and Magnetism chapter. The test will be this Thursday.

Math: We are starting geometry this week! We will focus on types of lines and angles. We will be making a geometry book in class that contains important vocabulary. This book will come home nightly to help with homework. They can also flip through the book to stay familiar with the vocab, since there will be a lot.

Important Reminders:
3/2 - Science Test
3/2 - Last day to bring in box tops
3/3 - No school
