Weekly Happenings

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here is what's happening this week:

Writing: The students will work to finish drafting, revise, and edit their persuasive essays. The essays are due this Friday. Here are some posters that will help the students on their drafts.

Reading: We are continuing to work on using context clues to help find the meaning of unknown words. Please encourage them to use the strategies we have learned at school during their reading at home. Here is a chart of the different ways to use context clues. We have learned the first three so far, and will be continuing on this week.

Word Study: Orange and Blue groups will test on Jan. 21st. Purple and Green groups will test on Jan. 22nd. Their contracts are due on the 22nd.

Science: This week we are working on measuring matter and learning about mixtures. They will learn what a mixture is and different ways to separate mixtures.

Math: We are still plugging away with fractions! This week we are focusing mainly on comparing and ordering fractions. Here are some strategies we will learn to help order fractions.
